Victorian Assassin (Own Design)
Assassin’s Creed
August 2012
I often consider Assassin’s Creed to be my gateway game. I’d played a few games before that, but it was the first one where after playing it I wanted more, to the extent that I blitzed through three of the games in as many weekends – in fairness I had a broken ankle so there wasn’t much else to do. I find the story very compelling, and enjoy the game play but one of my favorite aspects is the exploration of different time periods.
I wanted to make an Assassin costume for myself, or at least my assassin alter ego. I decided to set my fictional Assassin in the Victorian Era, because who doesn’t love bustles and hourglass shapes. I used plenty of creative licence in the costume (granted so did Ubisoft), but tried to keep the most salient features of the Victorian era and the Assassin’s creed style.

I used this jacket (Butterick B4954) pattern with a few slight modifications. I added the hood, and changed the front to get rid of the folds. To get the peak on the hood I used lots and lots of interfacing, and followed this hood pattern.
