I know that my base line of what is “easy” when it comes to cosplay is a little skewed and I have a habit of saying things are easy when in fact they are not – but this time I really do mean it! Sisyphus was a super easy costume, and in fact can be done even more easily than I did.
This cosplay and tutorial was made possible by my generous Patrons, head over to Patreon to check out the full set of photos, exclusive wallpapers and many other rewards.
The placeholder art for several characters in Hades by Supergaint Games, including Sisyphus, is in essence draped fabric in different colors. As the games is based around Greek mythology I decided it would make the most sense to base the costume around Greek clothing – I knew all those costume history classes would come in handy again.
The Chiton
Like many early forms of clothing the Greeks wanted to be as efficient as possible with their material, given how costly and time consuming it was to produce. The Chiton was one of the most popular styles (at least based on the evidence we have). There are a few different variations of Chiton, and sometimes other names, but in essence it’s all large squares of fabric draped around the body, more or less what we see in the character art in Hades.
To make a Chiton, get a big wide piece of fabric, wrap it around the body, pin the bits of the fabric together on the top edge, to make shoulders, and then tie it at the waste. And done!

For the veil I used a smaller piece of fabric (about 1 yard), added the green quilt trim to the edges and then made a few loops to run an elastic head band through to keep it attached to my head. The sign was made by Steph on bristol and colored using sharpies.
Well… damn. You weren’t kidding. That IS easy! I might have to make it.
