If you could change your fate, would you? Here is a trip down memory lane. I made this princess Merida cosplay (and had it photographed) couple of years back. I actually made it to wear to the midnight showing of Brave (because I have a serious weakness for characters with red curly hair), I might have been the only person in costume…

The dress is made in two parts, an over and under dress, based on a of modification McCalls M4491 (mostly I just changed the sleeves and neckline). The fabric I chose was a jersey knit for the over dress and natural colored muslin for the under, I would have gone with a more woolen fabric for the overdress had it not been super expensive plus the jersey made it incredibly comfortable and easy to get on and off (the laces ended up being just for show)! On those lines I ended up not using a wig, which was largely because I didn’t want to sit through a film wearing one.
